The Infection Prevention and Control Nurse is a critical role within our communities as it impacts the lives of residents through the strong leadership and motivation of Sienna team members.

Requirements

  • Certification of competency from the College of Nurses of Ontario and if required certification with College of Nurses in BC.
  • Sound knowledge of applicable provincial regulations and standards for Ontario and BC.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in geriatrics in a clinical health setting.
  • Completion of Basic Infection Prevention and Control Courses or willingness to obtain in a timeframe identified.
  • Certification in Infection Prevention & Control (CIC) or Associate Infection Prevention and Control Certification (A-IPC) – or willingness to obtain within a timeframe identified.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Advanced computer skills (e.g. Word, Excel).
  • All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check. Applicable to Ontario applicants.
  • All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Criminal Records Check. Applicable to British Columbia applicants.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Infection Control an asset.
  • Experience and/or training in Principles of adult education is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Participating in the planning, development, organization, implementation and evaluation of Sienna infection prevention and control program.
  • Responsible for providing infection prevention and control guidance for both Ontario and BC Region.
  • When required supports Ontario Region clinically in a similar capacity as Regional Wellness Partner.
  • Proactive prevention of dangerous infectious agents such as viruses and bacteria, outbreaks and epidemics.
  • Implementing prevention strategies including education/consultation for front line team members.
  • Performing infection prevention and control surveillance, collection and implementation of best practices and data analysis.
  • Identifying trends/patterns and managing investigations of infections.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
