The IPA Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and strengthening relationships with medical groups, Independent Practice Associations (IPAs), hospitals, and provider partners throughout Alignment Health’s Central Valley markets, including Tulare, Kings, Kern, and surrounding areas. This field remote role supports market growth initiatives and ensures IPA and provider partner performance aligns with the overall objectives of the health plan. This position requires strong knowledge of Medicare Advantage, provider and CMS guidelines, marketing considerations, and health plan operations. The IPA Manager will serve as a key liaison between provider organizations and internal teams, partnering closely with Market General Managers, Finance, Sales, Clinical, STARS, Risk Adjustment, and other cross-functional stakeholders to prioritize and achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual objectives set by market and executive leadership. The ideal candidate brings prior health plan, IPA, or medical group experience and is comfortable leading meetings, presenting operational and performance data, creating presentation materials, documenting action items, and following up on provider partner initiatives. Strong operational skills, communication, organization, and proficiency with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint and Excel, are important for success in this role. During initial market expansion efforts, this role will require regular in-person engagement throughout the region, including meetings with IPAs, hospitals, brokers, provider partners, and internal stakeholders, averaging approximately 2–3 days per week in the field. As the market becomes more established, in-person meetings are expected to transition to a more periodic business-needs basis. Candidates should reside within or near Tulare, Kings, Kern, or Fresno County areas and be comfortable traveling throughout the Central Valley region as needed.

  • Demonstrate excellent operational skills, including effective communication and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Deep knowledge of CMS guidelines.
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field; Master's degree preferred
  • Proven experience in a management role
  • Excellent understanding of CMS guidelines and regulations
  • Strong leadership, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Position based in Central Valley (Tulare / Kern King) counties preferred.
  • Must be willing to travel in regions as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Track performance to ensure alignment with the overall objectives of the health plan.
  • Receive ongoing reporting from clinical or RAF teams gaps.
  • Work with IPAs to develop, implement and monitor progress of remediation plans where performance requires improvement.
  • Serve as the IPAs’ main point of contact on day to day activities and timely issue resolution.
  • Attend external meetings with IPA leaders, as required.
  • Document and follow up on action items that may arise from the meetings.
  • Participate in and contribute to Joint Operating Committees (JOC), Joint Work Groups (JWG) and other collaborative meetings with the IPAs and key internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in marketing and provider CMS guidelines, with an end-to-end understanding of these aspects.
  • Collaborate with Market General Managers, Finance teams, and Sales departments to prioritize and achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual objectives set by the President.
  • Build strong relationships with assigned IPAs to drive collaboration and engagement.
