About The Position

Muncy, Geissler, Olds & Lowe, P.C. (MG-IP) is seeking a detail-oriented, full-time professional for a remote dual-function role focused primarily on IP patent paralegal responsibilities, with secondary support in docketing. This position involves comprehensive support throughout all stages of U.S. and international patent prosecution, including managing docketing, client correspondence, and billing from application filing through issuance. The role also includes assisting in the preparation of patent applications, preparing prosecution documents for e-filing, maintaining accurate electronic records, coordinating with foreign associates, contributing to firm processes, and conducting client correspondence and billing. Secondary responsibilities involve docketing support, such as reviewing receipts, updating records, verifying filings, processing mail, and opening new matters. Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of IP experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational, writing, and proofreading skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment
  • Must be computer savvy with the ability to navigate and utilize various software applications and digital tools efficiently
  • Experience utilizing patent docketing software; CTS is preferred
  • Familiarity with USPTO and WIPO platforms, including Patent Center and ePCT.
  • Ability to lift and carry at least 20 lbs.
  • High school diploma or GED required

Nice To Haves

  • Trademark docketing experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience with Asana is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel is a plus.
  • college degree is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively managing docketing, client correspondence, and billing from application filing through issuance.
  • Assisting in the preparation of patent applications, including proofreading and compiling the necessary documentation and signatures.
  • Preparing patent prosecution documents for e-filing with the USPTO and ePCT.
  • Maintaining accurate and organized electronic records, including tracking patent application status and deliverables.
  • Coordinating with foreign associates and external vendors to obtain foreign filing licenses, priority documents, and formal drawings.
  • Contributing to ongoing firm processes and team coverage scenarios.
  • Conducting client correspondence, billing, and status checks, while ensuring compliance with USPTO and MG IP procedures.
  • Assisting with additional paralegal or administrative projects as needed.
  • Reviewing EFS and EPAS receipts and updating docketing records.
  • Verifying completeness and compliance of USPTO filings.
  • Conducting status checks and reviewing Private PAIR correspondence notifications.
  • Processing incoming mail and email from clients, foreign associates, and the USPTO.
  • Opening new matters, preparing reports, maintaining spreadsheets, and supporting general patent-prosecution administrative tasks.
