iOS Engineer (US)

Superhuman
$186,000 - $300,000Hybrid

About The Position

Superhuman is seeking an iOS Engineer for their Mail team, offering a remote-flexible working model with an option for a hybrid setup in San Francisco, New York City, or Seattle. This role is crucial for the Superhuman Mail team, which is central to how people communicate and get work done, aiming to be the fastest email experience in the world. The engineer will own the iOS mobile roadmap, redefine inbox management, and contribute to Superhuman becoming a daily habit for users. The position requires an engineer who can own product and technical strategy end-to-end, set high standards, and elevate the team. This includes shaping both the 'what' and 'how' of product development, defining a one-to-two-year vision for the mobile platform, and leading the team towards an AI-native way of working.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in iOS development or related roles
  • Expertise in Swift, UIKit, SwiftUI, and iOS frameworks
  • Track record of shipping high-quality, delightful mobile experiences
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently (leading the technical direction of a project and operating effectively with limited guidance), manage priorities across multiple projects, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Experience in working in 0-to-1 environments (early-stage or new-product work)
  • Strong communication skills and a demonstrated ability to mentor and support other engineers
  • Fluency with AI coding tools (Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, etc.) and a point of view on how they change the way teams build software
  • Strong product instincts - you care about the end-user experience and can make good tradeoffs between speed and reliability

Nice To Haves

  • Additional experience with full-stack development working across clients and backend systems is a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the PM and EM to define product strategy — where we go, why, and how — grounded in a deep understanding of the user, the goals, and the metrics that matter, and then drive execution to get there.
  • Mentor and coach senior engineers to grow in execution, judgment, and influence.
  • Drive alignment across functions, navigating ambiguity and organizational complexity to proactively land the right outcomes.

Benefits

  • Excellent health care (including a wide range of medical, dental, vision, mental health, and fertility benefits)
  • Disability and life insurance options
  • 401(k) and RRSP matching
