About The Position

Thumbtack is seeking an iOS Engineer to join the Customer Acquisition, Growth, and Engagement (CAGE) team. This team focuses on enhancing the new and returning user experience within the Thumbtack app. The role involves driving iOS feature projects to completion, with a strong emphasis on their business and customer impact. The engineer will be responsible for breaking down large projects into manageable deliverables, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams (back-end engineers, product managers, designers, data analysts), and communicating project status to stakeholders. The role also involves exploring new frameworks and processes, participating in code reviews, and frequent deployments. The CAGE team operates in a data-driven environment, frequently running experiments to test hypotheses, requiring a balance between rapid iteration and engineering rigor.

Requirements

  • Passionate iOS engineer with experience building, testing, releasing, and maintaining apps written in Swift or Objective-C.
  • Proven track record of shipping consumer-facing apps that users love on the App Store.
  • Cross-functional collaboration and communication.
  • Communicate status regularly, proactively bring up potential blockers and risks, and keep cross-functional partners in the loop.

  • Experience with data-driven environments and running experiments.
  • Ability to look at user problems from a product or design perspective.

Responsibilities

  • Drive iOS feature projects to completion, focusing on the business and customer impact of those projects.
