Spring Mountain Treatment Center is a 110-bed mental health facility providing acute crisis stabilization services for adults, teens, and children in a secure inpatient setting since 2001. Our individualized treatment includes a structured, therapeutic environment, intensive physician involvement and oversight, and daily group and educational programs. Website: https://www.springmountaintreatmentcenter.com Spring Mountain Treatment Center is currently seeking a dynamic professional to join our team as an IOP Therapist Intern. This is an unpaid, internship position. The intern therapist will provide supervised clinical services to individuals, families and groups in an intensive outpatient therapy setting. This role is designed for graduate-level students pursuing licensure who are gaining hands-on experience in assessments, diagnosis, and therapeutic interventions.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in social work, mental health counseling.
  • Must have minimum of one year of relevant experience in a psychiatric setting.
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of the basic principles of psychiatric treatment, standards and requirements of all hospital agencies.
  • Must have knowledge in running therapy groups, Master Treatment Plan and understanding of psychological theories and mental health diagnosis.
  • Understand and honor the established hospital rules, regulations, and Policy & Procedures.
  • Knowledge of group therapy theory and practice, group processes, therapeutic relationship processes, age specific growth and development, addictions issues, limit setting and behavior management, crisis management and aggressive behaviors and CPR training.
  • New hires are required to attend 1 full week of New Employee Orientation on day shift, normally 8:00 am – 4:30 pm Monday through Friday.
  • Must successfully pass background check (includes criminal history, Child Abuse and Neglect Registry, and ABI/FBI fingerprint check.

Responsibilities

  • Apply psychotherapeutic techniques and interventions in the delivery of services to individuals and families for the purpose of treating such diagnosed emotional and behavioral disorders under clinical supervision.
  • Conduct individual, group or family sessions under clinical supervision.
  • Establishes therapeutic relationships with patients and provides assigned patient care within the general policies, philosophy, and objectives of the Intensive Outpatient Program.
  • Provide initial treatment planning for patient based on assessment and coordinate any additional services needed, revising as necessary under clinical supervision.
  • Maintain documentation of therapy services provided to each patient according to facility and professional standards and revise as indicated by facility or professional standard.
  • Conduct a psychosocial assessment and develop an initial discharge plan under clinical supervision.
  • Implements interventions appropriate to the developmental needs of the patient in accordance with the treatment plan demonstrating sound clinical and professional judgement under clinical supervision.
  • Accurately and thoroughly documents the progress, special treatments, goals, and any other documentation on patients under clinical supervision.
  • Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.
