The IONM Specialist performs Neurodiagnostic studies in the operative environment with some guidance. Able to complete one or more of the modalities: SSEP, EEG, or EMG. Requirements

Patient Evaluation (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate the ability to conduct a patient evaluation in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Capable of effectively assessing the relative merits of alternative products or services.
Medical Terminology & Documentation (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate medical terminology and documentation in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
Equipment Maintenance (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate the ability to maintain equipment, products, or systems in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Assures that parts inventory is sufficient.
Diagnostic Testing (Novice): Demonstrates proficiency of diagnostic testing in practical applications. Possesses sufficient knowledge, training, and experience to be capable of successfully delivering results.
Graduate of an approved discipline specific program
Less than 1 year of relevant work experience

Responsibilities

Review planned intraoperative procedure and orders for monitoring to determine the structures at risk relative to patient history/pre-existing conditions and monitoring requested.
Establish monitoring equipment in the operating room to ensure patient electrical safety and ability to communicate with team members including anesthesiologist, surgeon, and nursing staff according to lab protocol.
Cleans and disinfects equipment according to lab protocol.
