About The Position

The IONM Clinical Assistant supports intraoperative neuromonitoring services by assisting with case setup, equipment readiness, patient preparation, and clinical workflow coordination. This role helps promote safe, organized, and efficient case operations in collaboration with Neurotechnologists and facility staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Ability to follow clinical instructions, safety protocols, and established procedures.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced surgical or healthcare environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with technologists, leadership, and facility staff.
  • Basic proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office, and clinical documentation tools.
  • Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Ability to stand, turn, and stoop in an operating room suite for up to twelve (12) hours.
  • Precision in applying electrodes for surgical procedures.
  • Ability to drive or commute as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in healthcare, biological sciences, or related field preferred.
  • Healthcare certification or training, such as CNA, Surgical Technologist, EEG Technician, Medical Assistant, or similar clinical support experience, preferred.
  • Previous experience in patient care, surgical, diagnostic, or clinical support environment preferred.
  • Experience working in an operating room, hospital, clinic, or similar healthcare setting preferred.
  • Prior exposure to EEG, neurology, surgical technology, or intraoperative neuromonitoring is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with case preparation by reviewing surgical schedules, confirming case details, and communicating updates to leadership and assigned Neurotechnologists.
  • Prepare, transport, and organize equipment, laptops, supplies, and monitoring carts for scheduled and add-on cases.
  • Support operating room readiness by coordinating with clinical staff, gathering supplies, and assisting with patient preparation activities within the scope of training.
  • Assist with patient preparation, including electrode placement and baseline setup support, under appropriate supervision and direction.
  • Provide case support through equipment troubleshooting, supply retrieval, and communication with Neurotechnologists, leadership, and facility staff.
  • Assist with case closeout by cleaning and organizing equipment, restoring supplies, and preparing work areas for future cases.
  • Travel between healthcare facilities as needed to support equipment delivery, supply needs, or clinical operations.
  • Complete administrative, operational, and clinical support tasks as assigned by leadership.
  • Participate in training, team meetings, and professional development activities to build knowledge of intraoperative neuromonitoring procedures, terminology, equipment, and workflows.
