About The Position

Corebridge’s Investments Compliance team is a corporate function that provides overall Compliance support and oversight to Investments and consists of certain centralized functions providing cross platform coverage of Code of Ethics & Employee Compliance, Portfolio Monitoring, Anti-Money Laundering (“AML”) & Economic Sanctions, Regulatory Filings and other cross-functional topics, and subject matter experts (“SME”) responsible for specific asset classes. This role will report to a manager who is located in the U.K., who among other responsibilities, leads the global portfolio monitoring team. This role will be the manager of one U.S.-based Compliance specialist on the AML & Economic Sanctions team. The Investments Compliance team is seeking an experienced Compliance Officer who will join in the execution of the compliance program, with two primary responsibilities: Managing and executing the compliance program over Investments Private Credit Group (“PCG”), and Managing and executing the Investments AML & Economic Sanctions program over all asset classes. The Corebridge Investments PCG manages approximately $40 billion in corporate privates, infrastructure, structured credit, direct lending, and third-party CLOs. This role will be the SME Compliance Officer responsible for the management and execution of the registered investment adviser’s compliance program over the PCG and their assets under management. This includes: Ensuring compliance policies and procedures accurately incorporate the investment activities of the PCG, Developing and executing monitoring and testing routines (e.g. sample-based reviews, exception reports, etc.) to verify policies and procedures are effective and reasonably designed to prevent and detect violations of applicable laws, and Providing compliance advice, guidance, and oversight in support of day-to-day issues and inquiries related to the PCG’s management of investment portfolios, as well as leading Compliance efforts on new or strategic initiatives impacting the PCG. The Investments AML & Economic Sanctions program covers all Investments asset classes. This role will be the Compliance Officer responsible for managing and executing the program. The role will also be the Manager of one U.S. based AML compliance specialist. The program consists primarily of: Reviewing Know Your Client/Counterparty (“KYC”) due diligence performed by business unit asset class teams, Performing sanctions screening of clients, counterparties, and other transactional parties, Ensuring compliance policies and procedures related to AML & Economic Sanctions sufficiently address the unique nuances of each asset class and are in line with applicable laws, rules and regulations, and Corebridge corporate policies, Conducting reviews of KYC information/questionnaires in the onboarding of new clients and investors, and Responding to KYC requests/questionnaires from counterparties and service providers on behalf of the regulated entities or their clients. Interacting with the Corebridge corporate Financial Crimes Group (“FCG”) and Corporate Governance teams, where required. Finally, the Compliance Officer will be responsible for the ongoing execution of various “run the firm” compliance routines aligned with requirements of the SEC, FCA, and state insurance regulators. This role has potential scope for assignment of additional responsibilities and routines that are aligned with the candidate’s aptitude, background, or desire for career progression. All elements of this role will require regular interaction with portfolio managers, operations, legal, other members of the Investments compliance team and Corebridge corporate functions e.g. FCG.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience executing compliance routines related to an investment management firm or an AML & Economic Sanctions program.
  • Experience with Dow Jones Risk and Compliance Sanctions Screening tools or similar sanctions screening tools.
  • Proficient in Excel (including formulas, Vlookup, pivot tables, etc.).
  • Skilled in analyzing data in a variety of formats from multiple reports/systems.
  • Familiarity with the Investment Advisers Act of 1940.
  • High degree of intellectual curiosity and willingness to self-learn through reading regulatory releases and publications, inquiring with business and process owners, and applying past experiences from similar scenarios to current tasks and challenges.
  • Ability to execute with independence, knows “what to do next” without instruction.
  • Ability to confront conflict and difficult issues in a professional, assertive, collaborative and proactive manner.
  • Ability to work as a team, share knowledge and coordinate amongst peers to achieve a common goal.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with private credit as an asset class is ideal, but not required.
  • Possess an ACAMS certification or be willing and able to attain one (company sponsored).
  • Experience with Power BI reports is a plus.

Responsibilities
