About The Position

Kootenays Savings Credit Union is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Investment Specialist to join their team. This role focuses on promoting and selling KSCU investment products and services, with an emphasis on building the in-branch mutual fund portfolio. The position involves assisting qualified members by creating and implementing basic financial plans to meet various goals, while maintaining strong, proactive relationships. The Investment Specialist collaborates with MoneyWorks Advisors, making referrals for investments, insurance, and enhanced financial planning as needed. Additionally, they offer advisory services within the branch network, participate in the retail sales program, and make referrals for everyday banking products and services, including loans and credit products. The incumbent will promote and sell KSCU deposit products and mutual funds to both new and existing clients.

Requirements

  • Minimum two years of advisory experience, including financial needs assessment, product recommendation, and independent file management.
  • Minimum three years of progressive experience in financial services or retail banking within a regulated environment.
  • Solid understanding of personal financial planning concepts, including retirement planning strategies, education savings, and government benefit programs such as CPP and OAS.
  • Working knowledge of investment products and the ability to discuss options such as mutual funds, identify client needs, and refer to licensed specialists when appropriate.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a sales and service environment, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated computer literacy and intuitive ability to navigate, learn, and adapt to new software, systems, and digital tools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to travel between work locations to support operational requirements.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of deposit products and services, including registered products, and their application to member or client financial needs.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing member needs, identifying and explaining options, aiding in budgeting, retirement planning, education planning, short term asset accumulation planning and other types of basic financial planning.
  • Providing Mutual Fund investment services to members including sales of mutual funds, fund redemptions and annual reviews of member fund portfolios.
  • Providing information to members on mutual fund options and responds to member inquiries.
  • Monitoring compliance of mutual fund activities and documentation with regulatory and professional standards.
  • Responding to inquiries of existing and potential members by providing information on the full range of products and services offered by KSCU, answering inquiries, notifying members of products and services which may better meet their changing needs and resolving members’ issues or roadblocks.
