About The Position

Aksia is an alternative assets specialist, providing investment solutions for institutional investors globally. We provide investment management, advisory and research services across hedge funds, private credit, private equity, real assets, and real estate. Aksia’s Hedge Funds team maintains broad and deep coverage of the global hedge fund universe across all sectors, equity long/short, relative value, event‑driven, macro, and multi‑strategy and help clients to build portfolios that meet their needs, on an advisory basis (across primaries or SMAs offered by GPs) or a discretionary basis (across all investment types, implemented via bespoke mandates or products). Aksia is seeking an investment professional to join its global Hedge Fund Investment Research team. The team identifies alternative investment opportunities, conducts primary and secondary diligence, develops investment recommendations, constructs and monitors portfolios, and supports clients across the globe. The team seeks a candidate with demonstrated depth in event-driven and/or credit strategies and the curiosity and judgment to evaluate adjacent strategies. The ideal candidate will be comfortable moving across manager research, portfolio analysis, market research, client interaction, and business development. The position is based in Aksia’s New York office and includes regular interaction with global colleagues, clients, and the general partner community.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in institutional hedge-fund investing, manager research, asset allocation, fund-of-funds, investment consulting or a related role, ideally with some client interaction.
  • Demonstrated depth in event-driven and/or credit investing, with the ability to understand and evaluate adjacent strategies.
  • Strong investment judgment and the ability to form, communicate, and defend a view while remaining open to new information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex investment concepts to both investment professionals and clients.
  • Strong analytical and data skills, including advanced Excel proficiency and the ability to build practical comparative or monitoring frameworks.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently with limited oversight, and maintain high standards of detail and follow-through.
  • Collaborative, low-ego, intellectually curious, and constructive in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Source, screen, diligence, recommend, and monitor hedge-fund managers across event-driven, credit, structured credit, long/short credit, and related strategies.
  • Own selected manager and strategy coverage through the full investment lifecycle, from initial evaluation through portfolio implementation and ongoing monitoring.
  • Prepare investment memoranda, market research, manager updates, portfolio reviews, and client-ready materials that lead to clear conclusions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with general partners, industry contacts, and other sources of differentiated information.
  • Participate in client meetings, portfolio reviews, investment discussions, and business-development activities
  • Collaborate with colleagues across regions and strategy teams, contribute to shared research tools and processes, and support the development of junior team members.
