As an Investment Manager - Product Research Associate III within PNC Wealth Management, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA at the Tower at PNC Plaza. Requirements

  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in investment research, manager due diligence, portfolio analytics, or a related role.
  • FINRA Series 7 and SIE (or ability to obtain required licenses within the first six months of employment, per firm policy).
  • Bachelors degree.
  • FINRA Series 7 and 63 required.

  • CFA charterholder (or candidate) and/or CFP certification preferred.
  • In addition, a combination of the following licenses will be required based on the department needs: FINRA Series 66 (or 63/65), 53, or Life & Health Insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform manager research, due diligence, and ongoing monitoring across investment vehicles including (but not limited to) mutual funds, exchange-traded funds (ETFs), separately managed accounts (SMAs), and third-party multi-asset solutions for the PNC Wealth Management (PNCWM) approved list.
  • Source new ideas using industry tools (e.g., Morningstar Direct) and other resources to identify strategies that meet high standards for performance, risk management, process, and operational quality.
  • Conduct manager interviews, document findings, develop recommendations, and present to the firm’s investment committee.
  • Support the management and maintenance of the firm’s wrap program model overlays.
  • Evaluate capital market assumptions, select default strategies/funds, monitor performance and risk, perform performance attribution, set strategic asset allocations, and recommend tactical adjustments based on the firm’s market views.
  • Assist with model implementation and trading coordination, and help design new model portfolios to meet a range of client objectives, constraints, and risk profiles.
  • Create and deliver timely investment perspectives and market commentary for financial advisors and, when appropriate, clients.
  • Demonstrate strong writing skills (research notes, presentations, and committee materials) and clear verbal communication when presenting to internal stakeholders.
  • Continuously monitor the investment landscape for emerging trends, new products, and competitive developments.
  • Help ensure the PNCWM platform remains high quality, differentiated, and aligned to client needs.
  • Partner effectively across risk, legal, compliance, supervision, marketing, sales leadership, operations, and investment committees.
  • Use a collegial, diplomatic approach to build consensus and execute research and platform initiatives with appropriate governance and controls.
  • Build and maintain performance, risk, and exposure reporting (e.g., factor/sector/region/style, fees, drawdowns) to support product decisions, portfolio positioning, and advisor conversations.
  • Use investment databases and analytics platforms (e.g., Morningstar Direct) and Microsoft Excel/PowerPoint to collect data, perform analysis, and produce clear, decision-ready materials.
  • Maintain thorough research files and documentation supporting recommendations, monitoring decisions, and model changes.
  • Ensure processes align with applicable policies, compliance requirements, and risk oversight.
  • Manage multiple research and platform initiatives concurrently, prioritize effectively, and communicate progress, timelines, and implications to stakeholders.
