About The Position

superset} is a venture studio that conceives, funds, and builds companies from formation through scale. We don’t just write checks — we co-found companies and stay deeply involved at the strategy, positioning, and operational layers. Our portfolio spans AI-native software, fintech, and developer tooling. We’re looking for a high-agency operator to work directly with a General Partner across the full lifecycle of investment and company formation. This role sits close to decision-making and execution across investing and company formation. This is a force-multiplier role for someone who can move fluidly between executive-level judgment and hands-on execution. One hour you’re pressure-testing a portfolio company’s pitch deck; the next you’re arranging logistics for a campus event or reconciling a formation timeline. You are organized to a fault, genuinely fast, and comfortable owning ambiguous mandates end to end. You think structurally, you sweat details, and you have strong instincts for the simplest path to be taken. You are exceptionally reliable, and responsive. This role is based in our downtown San Francisco office, in person, five days a week. Proximity matters here — the work depends on being in the room. You’ll work at the center of how new companies get built — with real ownership, real scope, and a direct line to a GP. You’ll be partnering closely with experienced investors and founders across investing, company formation, and operational execution. With real ownership and a direct line to a GP, you'll build judgment, range, and systems-thinking at an unusually fast pace. For the right person, this is one of the best possible vantage points on company creation and investing, and a platform to build operational systems that compound across an entire portfolio.

Requirements

  • Exceptionally high throughput. You move fast and finish things. You have strong instincts for the simplest path to “done” and you don’t over-engineer — you’d rather ship a clean, good-enough solution today than a perfect one next week. Volume and velocity are your default mode.
  • No job too small. This role spans the strategic and the logistical. Some days you’re pressure-testing an investment thesis; other days you’re arranging swag for a campus event, staffing a booth, or checking people in at a learning event. You take genuine ownership of whatever needs doing and you don’t think any of it is beneath you.
  • A Type-A operator: relentlessly organized, detail-obsessed, and fast.
  • Resourceful with tools. You pick up whatever software a task requires and get productive fast, without waiting to be trained — and you reach for the simplest tool that works.
  • Strong commercial and analytical instincts. You can read a financial model, spot the weak claim in a pitch deck, and tighten a business plan.
  • A systems thinker who knows when to systematize and when to just get it done — you standardize what recurs without adding process for its own sake.
  • High trust and discretion. You’ll be close to sensitive investment and company information.
  • An exceptional written communicator. You synthesize complex situations into crisp, decision-ready prose.
  • Comfortable with the pace and ambiguity of a venture studio.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in venture capital, a venture studio, startup operations, investment banking, management consulting, or as an early-stage founder.
  • Exposure to corporate formation and early-stage company building.

Responsibilities

  • Investment screening and diligence. Build and run the pipeline for evaluating new opportunities — sourcing structure, first-pass screens, diligence memos, and the synthesis that helps a GP make fast, well-reasoned decisions.
  • The Signal program — building the early-stage operating cadence. Own the program that brings structure and rhythm to how our newest companies are built. That means designing the right cadence of meetings and check-ins, making sure founders get the touchpoints they need at the right moments, and orchestrating opportunities for companies to present to the Hive and the broader superset} community. The mechanics of formation matter too — incorporation, founding documents, equity setup — but the heart of Signal is making sure every early-stage company is plugged into a high-quality operating rhythm from day one.
  • Turning portfolio-wide leverage into real products. Across a studio, opportunities emerge that are valuable to every company but owned by none — and your job is to spot them and build them into something portfolio companies can actually use. The current example is our access to credit and infrastructure programs (AWS, GCP, and similar): latent value today that you’d package into a real, frictionless offering. But this is an evergreen mandate — new opportunities of this shape will keep emerging, and you’ll own turning them into products.
  • Deep work with portfolio companies. Dive in alongside founders on the substance: business plans, financial models, investor pitch decks, positioning, and go-to-market. You’ll be a genuine thought partner, not just a reviewer.
  • Cap table and formation coordination. Partner closely with our finance team on cap table work and formation diligence — you’re the connective tissue making sure the right information flows, deadlines are met, and nothing falls through the cracks. The finance team owns accounting accuracy; you own coordination, completeness, and keeping formation moving.
  • Executive operations. Manage prioritization, scheduling and the operating cadence for a GP ensuring the highest-leverage work gets the time it deserves.
