About The Position

The Wealth Planning Specialist is a senior level position on a FA/PWA team that is responsible for the development, maintenance, and oversight of financial plans for the team’s clients in addition to specializing in the sale of annuities and insurance solutions to complement those financial plans.

Requirements

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree or comparable professional certification required
  • 10 or more years of relevant work experience
  • Certified Financial Planner “CFP” Certification
  • Insurance Licensed
  • Wealth transfer / trust experience
  • Active Series 7, 63 and must maintain investment adviser representative (RA) registration, where required, in their place of business state and any other state(s) where the individual maintains a physical place of business.
  • Additional product licenses may be required
  • Product and state licenses in parallel to Financial Advisors on the Team, required
  • Minimum of 5 years FINRA Registration preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Morgan Stanley Insurance, Annuities, and Financial Planning suite a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial planning (including basic income replacement needs, supplemental retirement planning, estate and business planning, and wealth transfer planning) to all team clients and ensure that the plan is up to date by conducting a review no less than annually
  • Serve as liaison on behalf of the FA team in the purchase of Annuities and Insurance solutions
  • Drive adoption of Goals-Based Wealth Management tools/ practices
  • Lead meetings to discuss Insurance and Annuities investment strategies and options
  • Critically examine and monitor the client’s Annuities and Insurance holdings for ongoing suitability and make recommendations to upgrade or re-allocate holdings, where appropriate
  • Assist clients with incorporating Insurance and Annuities solutions within their Financial Plans through case design support and asset/liability matching
  • Maintain relationships with Retirement Solutions, Trust, and Planning Specialists as well as external partners to facilitate product implementation
  • Serve as a source for connecting clients to other product/ service opportunities (e.g., making connections to banking solutions based on the needs identified through the Financial Plan)
  • Manage client interaction by participating and driving client prospecting and meetings
