About The Position

William Blair is seeking an Investment Banking Managing Director specializing in Medical Technology. This role involves contributing to annual revenue targets by identifying, recommending, and closing new deal opportunities, as well as participating in the selling and pitching of the firm’s products and services. The position requires developing and executing product offerings and strategies, targeting new business opportunities, and actively coaching and mentoring investment banking team members. The role demands a deep understanding of accounting and finance, strong analytical abilities, and the capacity to lead transaction processes with minimal senior banker oversight. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Previous investment banking experience required
  • SIE Exam, Series 79, and Series 63 must be acquired (for US only)
  • Strong ability to lead transaction processes and pitch new business with minimal senior banker oversight
  • Strong ability to work on multiple projects and transactions
  • Ability to supervise and serve as a role model for junior staff and target areas for their development
  • Act as a team player that fosters sense of teamwork and community by participating in recruiting, reviews, mentoring, and firm committees
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in an entrepreneurial culture
  • Detail oriented with deep analytical abilities

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to annual revenue targets by identifying, recommending, and closing new deal opportunities.
  • Participate in selling/pitching the firm’s products/services.
  • Work with VPs, associates, and analysts to appropriately position pitches, utilize unique and creative analyses, and develop materials that engage and inform clients.
  • Develop and define product offerings/strategies, leveraging expertise, William Blair intellectual capital, and knowledge of client issues and core business drivers.
  • Keep clients apprised of latest product offerings, current trends, and market intelligence.
  • Lead the execution of various product offering strategies on behalf of the firm’s clients.
  • Ensure communication and knowledge sharing with Investment Banking teams.
  • Maintain effective client partnerships.
  • Proactively identify relevant strategic issues and core drivers of client business.
  • Provide clients with high-quality advice and insights.
  • Target new business opportunities, expanding relationships with existing clients and identifying new clients and referral sources.
  • Maintain knowledge of current market conditions and macro and microeconomic themes that drive markets and investor sentiment.
  • Coach, mentor, and actively guide team members.
  • Encourage team to improve process efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Actively participate in recruiting and training activities.
  • Ensure all activities are in compliance with applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
