About The Position

Scotiabank Global Banking & Markets offers a summer internship supporting its Investment Banking teams. Interns may work across sector groups including Energy, Technology, Corporate Finance Advisory, Leveraged Finance, Real Estate, Power and Utilities, Infrastructure, and M&A. The role provides exposure to investment banking products and services and helps interns develop skills for careers in Investment Banking. Interns have opportunities to learn from experienced Finance, Global Banking and Markets, and support-team executives; participate in interactive learning sessions; and receive guidance through a mentoring program. Scotiabank offers training and hands-on experience as part of the internship program.

Requirements

Be working toward a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Business, Accounting, Science, Technology, Engineering, Economics, or Math, with an expected completion date between December 2027 and August 2028.
Have strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially MS Excel.
Have excellent leadership capabilities and written and verbal communication skills.
Have a record of outstanding achievement in academic and extracurricular activities.
Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
Have time-management skills to manage multiple accountabilities through prioritization, delegation, motivation, conflict resolution, and promotion of ideas.
Be a quick learner and understand risks associated with new products, processes, and routine.

Responsibilities

Generally support client pitches.
Evaluate and analyze corporate clients’ financial needs, including developing financial models, marketing materials, and presentations.
Prepare financial and written analyses of companies and industries, including valuation models, pro-forma financial statements, and comparable company analyses.
Source data required to perform financial analysis.
Draft prospectuses and marketing presentations for transactions.
Prepare client presentations.
Support Investment Banking teams globally.
