About The Position

Morgan Stanley's Investment Banking Division Healthcare team in San Francisco is seeking a Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Associate to join its West Coast platform. The M&A Associate will support the structuring and execution of a broad range of complex domestic and cross-border transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, mergers, spin-offs, joint ventures, asset swaps and defense assignments. The team advises a diverse group of innovative clients across a wide range of healthcare and life sciences sub-sectors, including biotechnology, medical technology, life sciences tools, diagnostics, specialty pharmaceuticals and technology-enabled healthcare. The successful candidate will work closely with both the M&A and healthcare coverage teams to deliver high-quality strategic advice to clients. You will play an integral role within a collaborative team of senior professionals, with the opportunity to go beyond the numbers, think creatively and contribute meaningfully to transaction execution and client engagement.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in investment banking as an Analyst and/or Associate, or an MBA, with a proven track record of working on executed M&A transactions
  • Strong financial statement analysis skills and expertise in valuation and financial modeling across transaction types
  • Exceptional work ethic, with a high level of motivation and commitment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as client and interpersonal skills
  • Sound commercial judgment and the ability to perform under pressure and manage tight deadlines
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Series licensing or must obtain

Nice To Haves

  • MBA and/or CFA designation is a plus.
  • Relevant degrees include Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Accounting, Mathematics or related fields (or foreign equivalent)
