About The Position

The Co-op Analyst program is designed for candidates in their penultimate year of their undergraduate program. Co-op Analysts will participate in a one week training and orientation program and are assigned to a specific Investment Banking product or industry group during the program. In addition to this on-the-job experience, the program includes the opportunity to network across various business groups, learn about the culture of BMO Capital Markets, participate in training and learning seminars, and obtain career guidance from dedicated mentors. The BMO Capital Markets Investment Banking Calgary energy group provides a full suite of products and services to clients in the oil & gas production, power and energy infrastructure, and energy services sectors through an integrated Capital Markets platform, including M&A advisory and capital raising services. An Investment Banking Analyst Co-op is responsible for assisting teams in the development of pitch materials for current or prospective clients, and the ultimate execution of transactions. This position is located in Calgary, Alberta and ideally suited to talented, highly motivated individuals who seek to build a solid, comprehensive foundation in the basic skills of investment banking.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program; graduating in 2028, 2029, 2030
  • Proven track record of excellent academic standing, extra curricular participation and demonstrated interest in finance
  • Strong understanding of the energy sector.
  • Excellent analytical skills in business, financial and credit analysis areas
  • Strong interpersonal skills used within a demanding team environment
  • Ability to attentively review, assess and provide detailed information daily on multiple projects in an organized manner
  • Strong work ethic
  • A high level of integrity

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to those students in their 2nd or 3rd co-op term with a concentration in finance

Responsibilities

  • Supporting deal teams in the execution of M&A transactions, as well as equity and debt financings.
  • Preparing client presentations.
  • Performing complex financial analysis including financial modeling.
  • Conducting company and industry research and analysis.
  • Collaborating and building relationships with various internal product partners.
  • Maintaining internal databases.
