About The Position
ATB Capital Markets Corp. is seeking an Analyst to join the Energy & Infrastructure group within the Investment Banking team. This team provides a full suite of financial service solutions, including advice on mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, private equity, corporate banking, loan syndications, project finance, equity capital, debt capital, financial markets, institutional sales and trading, and institutional research. The Analyst will be involved in all aspects of the transaction process and the development of strategic business ideas. This role offers the opportunity to work with clients and senior management within a dynamic, entrepreneurial team, assisting in the execution of Investment Banking, MA&D, and other Financing mandates. The position is based in downtown Calgary, AB, and may be elevated to the Associate level depending on the candidate's skills and experience.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education (Bachelor's Degree or higher) with a focus in Engineering, Geology, Geophysics, or a similar field.
- Must have completed, or be near completing, any of the following; MBA, CFA, CA, CPA and/or CBV.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
- Strong work ethic with an appreciation for schedule uncertainty.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to excellence.
- Team oriented with the ability to work in an open and unstructured environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Prior upstream energy, investment banking, corporate development, or capital markets experience is required.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge of Bloomberg and Factset (or similar) is considered an asset.
Responsibilities
- Supporting Investment Banking and MA&D.
- Providing technical and commercial evaluations of assets and corporates for acquisition and divestment opportunities and other investment banking initiatives.
- Maintaining and developing databases and spreadsheets.
- Supporting senior bankers on financing and M&A transactions.
- Conducting in-depth industry and company related research.
- Developing presentation materials and strategic documents.
- Focusing primary responsibilities within the upstream, midstream, and services sectors with opportunities in the expanding Energy sector.
