About The Position

Pivotal Life Sciences is seeking a highly motivated Investment Associate to join our dynamic investment team. This role uniquely integrates finance, therapeutics investment research, and artificial intelligence within the biotechnology sector, focusing on leveraging data science to enhance investment decisions. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in finance, investment analysis, and a strong understanding of AI applications in financial contexts.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree (PhD) in Biology or a related life sciences field required.
  • 2-5 years of relevant work experience in venture capital, investment banking, or buy or sell side public investment research, with a focus on biotechnology (ideally therapeutics) preferred.
  • Familiarity with data analysis, machine learning, and AI applications in finance and/or biotechnology.
  • Strong understanding of financial modeling, valuation techniques, and investment analysis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • A passion for learning and staying ahead of industry developments, particularly in AI and biotechnology.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic programming skills in Python or similar languages are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough market research, competitive analysis, and due diligence on investment opportunities in the biotechnology sector, focusing on AI-driven insights.
  • Build, update, and maintain comprehensive financial models to evaluate the viability of potential investments, incorporating AI techniques where applicable.
  • Work closely with senior investment professionals, data scientists, and software engineers to integrate AI and analytics into investment processes and decision-making.
  • Contribute to the development of predictive algorithms and AI models that inform investment strategies and improve portfolio performance.
  • Prepare and present investment recommendations, detailed reports, and findings to senior leadership and investment committees.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with industry experts, portfolio companies, and key opinion leaders to gather insights and foster collaboration.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements relevant to biotech and AI applications in finance.
