The Wesleyan Investments Office manages the University’s endowment in support of Wesleyan’s academic mission and long-term financial strength. Through thoughtful investment and responsible stewardship, the endowment provides an enduring source of funding for financial aid, academic programs, faculty and staff, facilities, and other University priorities. The Investments Office offers a collaborative and intellectually rigorous environment where team members work across a broad range of investment strategies while contributing to the long-term success of the University. Reporting to the Chief Investment Officer, the Investment Analyst has the opportunity to work on a generalist team and engage in practical hands-on work at the Investments Office while gaining exposure to a wide array of asset classes including hedge funds, venture capital, leveraged buyout, public equity and real estate, while interacting with some of the world’s best investors. The Investment Analyst plays a supporting role as a member of the investment team, helping to manage the endowment’s assets, track its performance and hone the systems and processes that serve as a foundation for its future growth. The Investment Analyst will also participate in writing investment memos and present to the Investment Committee. The Investment Analyst is an active participant in the sourcing and vetting of new managers, in addition to the ongoing monitoring of current partnerships. The Investment Analyst will receive extensive training to build a foundation for a successful investment career. The Investment Analyst will have the opportunity to learn financial theory and analytical techniques through the highly regarded Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program. Further training in accounting, Excel, Bloomberg, Morningstar and other systems will also be sponsored by the Investments Office. The Investment Analyst will also have exposure to the endowment’s position within the greater Wesleyan ecosystem and will learn how the endowment’s spending supports the University’s budget, financial aid and other capital allocation decisions.
