About The Position

Oregon State Treasury is recruiting for the position of Investment Analyst 3, Diversifying Strategies. The primary purpose of this position is to support the day ‑ to ‑ day investment and administrative activities of the Diversifying Strategies Portfolio.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Finance, or any other degree demonstrating the capacity for the above listed knowledge and skills and six years of professional experience in a similar analytical, operational or project management role; OR A valid certification as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and 5 years of experience; OR Any combination of experience and education equivalent to nine years of experience that typically supports the knowledge and skills for the classification.
  • A Master’s Degree in Business or Finance, or any other degree demonstrating the capacity for the above listed knowledge and skills will substitute for one year of the required experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the institutional investment industry (investment consultant, asset manager, pension, endowment, foundation, etc.) with role progression, demonstrating success and increasing responsibility.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with diversifying strategies investments.
  • Experience with portfolio construction and risk management concepts.
  • Experience with investment programs such as eVestment, Factset, Bloomberg, and sophisticated Excel spreadsheets.
  • Experience writing due diligence reports and creating investment-related presentations.
  • Pursuit of CFA/CAIA designations or relevant advanced degree a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and reviews investment presentations, takes frequent meetings with prospective general partners and their agents.
  • Analysis encompasses the identification of proposed investments’ unique risk and return attributes, evaluation of those attributes relative to other, competing investment opportunities, general partner track record assessment and a thorough inventory and evaluation of all other terms and conditions.
  • Assists in the assembly of overall due diligence investment memorandums.
  • Assists in performing on-site due diligence visits with Investment Officer(s) and attends industry conferences.
  • Gathers and utilizes data setting forth current trends in Diversifying Strategies and measurable economic influences pertinent to the status of Diversifying Strategies investments.
  • Research topics may include: alignment of interests analysis; partnership conditions and terms analysis; and developing a performance analysis framework.
  • Assists Investment Officer(s) with research to support overall Program’s strategic direction.
  • Performs portfolio analysis and produces reports to aid Investment Officer(s) to assure compliance with applicable investment guidelines as dictated by Oregon Revised Statutes and the Oregon Investment Council.
  • Analyses may include performance analysis, diversification analysis, and liquidity analysis.
  • Aid in formulating board and committee materials such as memos and presentations, including OIC materials specific to the OPERF Diversifying Strategies portfolio.
  • Builds and maintains an "investment partnerships of interest" pipeline to aid Investment Officer(s) with portfolio construction decisions.
  • Builds and maintains investment strategy competitive landscapes.
  • Provides general support to the Investment Officer(s) for ad hoc tasks and requests.
  • Tracks and maintains investment meetings database.
  • May work with relevant legal staff to help coordinate investment closings.
