The Investment Accountant promotes effective investment accounting and reporting information by applying appropriate accounting and reporting principles and practices in partnership with internal and external customers to achieve the Organization’s goals. This position requires foundational knowledge for all types of investments appropriate for insurance companies including bonds, stocks, mortgage loans, real estate and other invested assets. Prepares certain statutory quarterly and annual financial statement schedules and exhibits with an emphasis on the Mortgage, Real Estate and Other Invested Asset related reports. Processes acquisitions, payments and disposals for all mortgage loans, real estate and other long-term assets. Processes depreciation for all real estate, performs a variety of routine and some non-routine accounting functions in accordance with developed procedures for all investment related activity to ensure that the Organization’s investments are properly accounted for and in compliance with regulatory and statutory accounting requirements.
