About The Position

The Reporting & Investment Accountant I helps to ensure that investment accounting policies and procedures are correctly applied to financial transactions. Working under close supervision as an entry-level position, this job works with asset management, portfolio management and acquisition/disposition teams, and assists with preparing month end closing reports and subsidiary quarterly financial analytics.

Requirements

University (Degree), Preferred
Physical Requirements: Sedentary Work
Solid knowledge and understanding of GAAP
Experience in an accounting role
BS/BA in Accounting
Proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Excellent technical research, communication and writing skills
Ability to work in a deadline driven environment
Ability to multi-task

Nice To Haves

Real estate experience is a plus
Experience with Adobe and/or Yardi is a plus

Responsibilities

Assists with the preparation of timely and accurate GAAP work papers and supporting schedules to satisfy all investment accounting requirements for internal and external audits.
Compiles financial information for joint ventures to ensure compliance with investment accounting policies and procedures (sales, acquisitions, debt refinancing, restructuring, and financial performance).
Documents frequent ad hoc financial inquiries to be incorporated into the monthly and quarterly reports, adding value by providing management insight into the activities of the underlying properties.
Supports the calculation of unlevered and levered, gross and net portfolio performance returns and property internal rates of return.
Assists with converting modified cash basis accounting information provided by third party management firms to accrual basis to facilitate preparation of fair value GAAP basis financial statements.
Seeks guidance from senior Investment Accountants regarding issues that require more advanced knowledge and experience.
