About The Position

The Investigator position is a full-time, regular role with an immediate opening, located in McAlester, Oklahoma. The Investigator will be responsible for a wide range of duties related to case file review, evidence collection, witness interviews, trial assistance, and support for other law enforcement agencies. This position requires rotation as an on-call investigator, subject to call-out 24/7, and necessitates passing a comprehensive background investigation and drug screening.

Requirements

  • CLEET full-time certified.
  • Minimum of three years' full-time law enforcement experience.
  • Must reside within the geographical boundaries of District 18 or be able to relocate within a reasonable amount of time.
  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background investigation and drug screening.
  • Must be computer proficient.
  • U.S. Citizen.
  • No felony convictions.
  • No major misdemeanors.
  • No domestic violence convictions.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference given to those with narcotics/investigative experience.
  • A bachelor's degree or higher education is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and reviews District Attorney case files, obtaining certified copies of materials such as court documents, agency reports, jail records, criminal histories, photographs, fingerprint cards, vehicle registration, driver's license, and audio or video tapes.
  • Serves as a liaison with various law enforcement agencies, requesting additional information for cases and obtaining Agency Offense Reports.
  • Interviews and takes statements from victims and/or witnesses, contacting appropriate parties, asking questions, and discussing the case.
  • Locates victims and witnesses as needed.
  • Assists prosecutors in the jury selection process, including reviewing jury panel information sheets, conducting background information on jury panels, and making recommendations for jury selections.
  • Assists prosecutors in trial by obtaining background information on witnesses, transporting witnesses to and from court, and ensuring witnesses are ready to testify.
  • Assists other investigators as needed.
  • Assists other law enforcement agencies in investigations, including reviewing cases, investigating crime scenes, performing surveillance, and serving warrants.
  • Assists with pre-trial hearings, including issuing and serving subpoenas, transporting witnesses and prisoners to and from the courthouse, delivering subpoenaed records, and obtaining certified copies of records.
  • Issues subpoenas, serves subpoenas, and tracks the status of subpoena service for all pre-trials and trials.
  • Conducts special investigations as needed.
  • Works closely with other law enforcement agencies within and outside of Oklahoma.
