The current vacancy is in the Medical Examiner's Office. The eligibility list created by this vacancy may be used to hire other vacancies in the department. To perform investigational work for the Medical Examiner's Office on reported deaths that come under the jurisdiction of the Medical Examiner; to assist the forensic pathologists in the performance of autopsies; to receive bodies of dead persons, prepare them for storage, and see to their proper disposition; to be responsible for the chain of custody of evidence that is collected; and to perform related duties as assigned. (This is the entry level of this class series. It differs from Investigator Senior in that employees at this level are gaining experience that would enable them to perform work which, based on supervisory assessment, is more complex. Incumbents at this level function less independently and receive more supervisory direction.) This is a part time position. The schedule, once training is complete, is expected to be two 10-hour shifts on Fridays and Saturdays.
