About The Position

This is a sworn law enforcement position responsible for investigative support to the legal staff within the Office of the State Attorney, 20th Judicial Circuit. The role involves reviewing cases and evidence, locating witnesses, obtaining court documents, communicating with detectives and witnesses, providing testimony, attending briefings, ensuring staff and witness security, investigating violations of Florida Statutes, attending depositions and proffers, and performing other varied investigative duties. The position is subject to assignment throughout the 20th Circuit (Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Hendry, Glades) and may involve occasional nights and weekends, with on-call status required.

Requirements

Current Florida Law Enforcement Certification
Valid Florida Driver’s License
A minimum of 5 years of criminal investigative experience
Meet the minimum eligibility requirements established in Florida State Statute 943
Be at least 19 years of age
Be a citizen of the United States
Be a high school graduate or its equivalent
Not have been convicted of any felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or a false statement, nor have received a dishonorable or undesirable discharge from any of the Armed Forces of the United States
Have his/her processed fingerprints on file with the employing agency
Have passed a physical examination by a licensed physician
Have good moral character as defined by Administrative Code 11B-27-0011, by a background investigation
Possess a current certificate of compliance for basic employment certification issued by the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission (or obtain within 180 days of appointment)
