About The Position

The Bronx District Attorney’s Office is seeking an Investigative Assistant District Attorney for the Violent Criminal Enterprise Bureau (VCEB), within the Investigations Division. VCEB focuses on combating violent gangs in Bronx County through investigation and prosecution, and works with state, local, and federal agencies to investigate and prosecute firearms trafficking. The bureau also partners with the Crime Strategies Bureau to turn actionable intelligence into proactive investigations and prosecutions. The position conducts long-term investigations and trials.

Requirements

Juris Doctorate degree and admission to the New York State Bar in good standing.
U.S. citizenship and New York State residency as of the first day of employment.
At least 3 years of experience performing long-term criminal investigations.
Experience cultivating and using confidential informants and cooperating witnesses.
Ample experience drafting and reviewing applications for search warrants, including those related to electronic devices and social media accounts, 2703(d) orders, pen registers, and eavesdropping warrants.
Significant grand jury experience.
Trial experience involving violent crime, gang prosecutions, gun violence, complex conspiracies, and criminal enterprises.
Clear and effective oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively and collegially, independently and with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Significant experience investigating complex conspiracies and criminal enterprises.
Knowledge of New York State courts and the criminal justice system.

Responsibilities

Conduct investigations.
Organize and present grand jury presentations.
Prosecute cases arising from investigations, including meeting discovery obligations and drafting motions and responses.
Engage in plea negotiations and conduct hearings and trials.
Maintain current knowledge of investigative methods and the proper application of relevant law.
Analyze trends in gang violence in Bronx County and develop strategies for investigations and prosecutions.
Participate in meetings and conferences between the DA’s Office and other law enforcement agencies.
Communicate across multiple organizational levels, internally and externally.
Collaborate with the Crime Strategies Bureau, staff, and other bureaus to share intelligence.
Perform other duties as required.
Be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
