About The Position

Oversees driver and motor vehicle licensing and registration and continues to make services more convenient, efficient and cost-effective. This position is essential, meaning the duties this job performs are critical to the continued operations of the Ohio Department of Public Safety during a public safety emergency. A BCI/FBI fingerprint check, and background check, may be required on all selected applicants. A comparative analysis and/or drug-test may be a requirement of the hiring process. Requirements

  • 2 yrs. investigation exp. with experience corresponding to type of complaints & alleged violations appearing in job posting/approved position description; AND valid driver's license.
  • 3 yrs. trg. or 3 yrs. exp. as investigator where experience does not correspond with cases/complaints/allegations to be assigned; AND valid driver's license.
  • Equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Responsibilities

  • Under direct supervision of the Chief of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles' (BMV) Investigations Section, direct the operation of District Investigations Office & supervise assigned investigators
  • Assign all cases requiring investigation within the district
  • Meet with investigators to review cases & to provide guidance &/or assistance
  • Act as a coordinator & maintain accountability for all cases
  • Review & analyze all routine reports & complaints & routes to proper source
  • Assume responsibility for the conduct & performance of all investigations assigned to the district
  • Develop & implement procedures for the enforcement of motor vehicle laws
