About The Position

The Inventory Support Specialist performs essential logistics and inventory management functions to ensure accuracy and efficiency within the warehouse and related operations. This role involves conducting physical inventories, investigating and resolving discrepancies, managing inventory data in the IFS system, and maintaining high standards of organization and safety. The specialist will also be involved in preparing non-conforming materials, creating purchase requisitions, and updating inventory records. Additionally, the role requires operating material handling equipment and adhering to company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or minimum five (5) years’ experience in Inventory Management, Warehouse, or Logistics related field required.
  • Microsoft office (Outlook, Word, Excel) experience required.
  • Forklift, reach truck, order picker and scissor lift experience required.
  • Ability to tour all vessels and work sites.
  • Ability to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • Ability to bend, squat, stoop, crawl, and kneel.
  • Perform prolonged standing (2-3 hour intervals).
  • Ability to turn head from side to side and about the vertical axis.
  • Ability to turn body at the waist from side to side and about the vertical axis.
  • Lift/push/pull 50lbs to 75lbs on an occasional basis (0-33% of the day).
  • Lift/push/pull up to 20lbs on a frequent basis (34-66% of the day).
  • Ability to climb in a safe manner (climbing includes stairs, scaffolding, ladders, and ramps).
  • Ability to work at heights above 12’ while working from ladders, scaffolding and/or man lifts.
  • Able to work at a variety of levels (ex. waist, eye, overhead).
  • Demonstrate the ability to safely and appropriately use required tools.
  • Demonstrate good balance while working on uneven surfaces and maneuvering obstacles.
  • Possess sufficient handgrip and coordination to carry and operate tools and equipment.
  • Ability to utilize personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steel toes shoes, goggles, respirator, safety harness, safety line, flotation gear, etc.) safely per OSHA standards.
  • Ability to withstand cold and hot temperatures.
  • Ability to enter 18” x 36” openings and work in confined spaces for prolonged periods of time (33-66% of the day).
  • Able to respond to verbal and audible sounds/commands.
  • Able to utilize adequate visual skills.
  • Ability to fully extend the arm while reaching overhead, reaching out, reaching to the side and reaching down.
  • Ability to perceive attributes of an object/material such as size, shape, temperature and texture by means of receptors in the hands and fingers.
  • 18 years of age or older at time of application.
  • Able to provide proof of US Person Status.
  • No felony convictions of Theft/Deception or Violent crimes within seven years from disposition date.
  • No felony convictions of Drug crimes within three years from disposition date.
  • Willing to submit to a drug screen.
  • Willing to submit to a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing background preferred.
  • Ability to demonstrated proficiency in IFS or other ERP system preferred.
  • Knowledge of 5s principles and practices preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cycle counts and physical inventories of material and equipment at various locations.
  • Conduct all Logistics operations at the Loxley warehouse as needed.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, document findings, and perform adjustments in IFS.
  • Research discrepancy data to determine root-cause and present corrective actions.
  • Perform material transfers within IFS as requested.
  • Ensure accurate and timely transaction of all material moves in IFS.
  • Maintain 5S and house-keeping standards.
  • Utilize Access, Excel, and IFS to track and report Logistics Metrics.
  • Prepare non-conforming material (NCM) issues, including segregation, labeling, case creation, and notification.
  • Promote new inventory parts through the system and identify part class and default receiving locations.
  • Create purchasing requisitions for KANBAN, PIO, and INCO parts.
  • Generate reports and verify order points and reorder quantities.
  • Update EAN fields within IFS for inventory consolidation, new arrivals, or slotting.
  • Maintain EAN integrity by monitoring reports and material flow.
  • Move parts within IFS and verify related data updates.
  • Properly store and mark inventory materials.
  • Assist with fulfillment of work packages and other warehouse duties.
  • Operate forklift and other material handling equipment.
  • Maintain Austal certification.
  • Comply with Austal’s employee handbook, procedures, and policies.
