About The Position

The Inventory Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date inventory records using inventory management software. Key duties include conducting regular physical counts, reconciling records, investigating discrepancies, and ensuring proper rotation of FIFO items. The role also involves generating and analyzing inventory reports, professionally communicating findings, and ensuring proper identification, organization, labeling, and storage of items. The specialist will assist with receiving, unpacking, and stocking shipments, and contribute to a clean and safe work environment. The company, GMS, a subsidiary of SRS Distribution (a wholly owned subsidiary of The Home Depot), operates a large network of distribution centers and tool service centers, valuing humility, mutual respect, and service to others.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of related work experience
  • Proficiency in Excel
  • Strong mathematical skills

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records using inventory management software
  • Conduct regular physical counts of merchandise and reconcile with system records, 25 counts per hour while maintaining 99% accuracy
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies between physical counts and system records
  • Research weight variances, receiving/put away/picking issues, and damaged product in the location from warehouse moves/put away/general incidents
  • Proactively check First-in Frist-out (FIFO) items for proper rotation
  • Generate and analyze reports on inventory levels, stock movement, and other relevant metrics
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment
  • Able to professionally communicate inventory reports/questions/resolutions via email and phone
  • Ensure items are properly identified, organized, labeled, and in the correct location
  • Receiving, unpacking, and stocking incoming shipments as needed
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of inventory to prevent damage or loss
  • Assist in organizing and maintaining a clean and safe work environment
