About The Position

The Inventory Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records and supporting efficient inventory operations across Shanor Electric. This role oversees inventory control, performs cycle counts, investigates discrepancies, and ensures inventory within the ERP accurately reflects physical inventory. Working closely with Purchasing, Warehouse, Production, and Operations, the Inventory Specialist helps ensure materials are available to support customer projects while improving inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of inventory control, warehouse, purchasing, or supply chain experience.
  • Experience maintaining inventory within an ERP system.
  • Experience performing cycle counts and physical inventory management.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control principles and best practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field preferred.
  • Prophet 21 (P21) experience preferred.
  • Experience in an electrical distribution, manufacturing, industrial, or construction environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate inventory records within the companies ERP (Prophet 21 (P21)).
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts according to established schedules.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and determine root causes.
  • Process inventory adjustments with appropriate documentation and approvals.
  • Receive and verify incoming inventory against purchase orders and packing slips.
  • Ensure inventory transactions, transfers, and material movements are accurately recorded.
  • Monitor inventory levels and identify shortages, overstock, obsolete inventory, and slow-moving materials.
  • Work closely with Purchasing to maintain accurate inventory replenishment data.
  • Collaborate with Warehouse, Production, Project Management, and Operations to ensure material availability for customer projects.
  • Assist with physical inventory counts and year-end inventory audits.
  • Develop and maintain inventory control procedures and best practices.
  • Recommend process improvements that increase inventory accuracy and warehouse efficiency.
  • Organize warehouse inventory to maximize accessibility, efficiency, and accuracy.
  • Maintain accurate inventory documentation and reporting.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy metrics and prepare regular reports for leadership.
  • Assist in training employees on proper inventory control procedures and transaction processing.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and warehouse procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
