About The Position

The Inventory Specialist is responsible for coordinating weekly cycle counts and month-end activities. This role involves identifying the root causes of inventory discrepancies and collaborating with other departments to resolve them. The specialist will proactively work to prevent the aging of materials to minimize loss, lead by example, train material handlers on effective cycle counting, and educate them on the importance of inventory accuracy. The role includes conducting regular cycle counts and updating perpetual inventory.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years’ experience in inventory control
  • Demonstrated math skills
  • Demonstrated computer skills; MS office and email, SharePoint a plus
  • Experience with ERP programs, SAP a plus
  • Knowledge of Hearthside Food Solutions products, production and inventory processes.
  • Knowledge of material handling, receiving warehouse and flow of materials.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, and Excel (SAP a plus).
  • Ability to lead by example and promote teamwork.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to ensure collaborative relationships with Hearthside staff.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to issue and receive instructions using guidelines.
  • Ability to utilize ‘best in class’ behaviors with focus on safety, quality, and policy focus.
  • Ability to multi-task and respond to non-routine requests.
  • Ability to work in a detailed oriented fashion.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the point person for day-to-day inventory issues.
  • Manage cycle counts for the area of concentration, including generating cycle count lists, performing daily cycle counts, and making cycle count corrections.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of inventory discrepancies and identify solutions for recurring problems.
  • Report inventory transaction errors and return-to-stock issues to production.
  • Track and maintain inventory accuracy across all warehouses.
  • Update and maintain weekly tracking metrics.
  • Account for all production batch tickets, check for variances/errors, and file them.
  • Respond promptly to count requests from various departments based on priority.
  • Run daily lot aging reports, sample product for evaluation, and escalate aging issues to minimize financial loss.
  • Process discontinued materials.
  • Ensure the accuracy of transactions.
  • Manage donation and liquidation processes, if required.
