About The Position

United Food Bank is seeking a dedicated Warehouse Associate to join their dynamic team. This role plays a crucial part in achieving the organization's mission of Uniting Communities to Alleviate Hunger. The Inventory Receiving Associate is a key player on the Food Operations team, ensuring the accuracy and tracking of inbound products. This position is directly responsible for the safe and efficient physical receipt, storage, movement, recording, and reporting of products during day-to-day food bank operations. The role interacts regularly with the public, including partners, volunteers, and delivery drivers, and will reinforce and model the organization's values with multiple groups internally and externally.

Requirements

  • Passion for alleviating hunger and aligned with our mission and values
  • High School diploma or completed GED.
  • Minimum of 1 year of warehouse and data input experience.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office software and basic writing skills in a working environment.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, socio-economic levels, and staffing levels.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated individual with the ability to problem-solve.
  • Ability to effectively analyze and resolve routine and complex problems.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Adept at handling multiple tasks and concurrent projects.
  • Ability to work onsite daily, during the hours of 7:30 am – 4:00 pm, with other hours as needed.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to acquire Arizona Food Handler's Card and Serve Safe Certification.
  • Exhibits qualities of maturity, good judgment, and tact, especially when facing conflicting personal and organizational goals, and team relationships vs. personal loyalties.
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility and personal leadership when faced with issues or opportunities, including unexpected changes in day-to-day activities, or divergence from the standard or usual way of operating.

Nice To Haves

  • Pallet jack or forklift certified, a plus (or ability to complete successful certification training).

Responsibilities

  • Practices safe food handling procedures at all times.
  • Maintains quality assurance standards when inspecting all incoming products.
  • Accurately inspects, weighs, separates, and labels all inbound products, storing items in their appropriate areas.
  • Identifies issues with orders and immediately elevates concerns to the supervisor.
  • Conducts temperature checks throughout the day of newly received food, including refrigerated and frozen items.
  • Inputs all receiving information into the Ceres (ERP) system.
  • Prepares receipt records and reports as needed for internal audit on inbound products.
  • Relays information to the Put-Away team after products are received.
  • Assists in the unloading, scaling, and order-filling of products as needed.
  • Works closely with inventory team members to prioritize workload.
  • Responsible for the general housekeeping of the receiving area and maintenance of records.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Food Operations and/or COO and/or designee.
