About The Position

This position is responsible for receiving all Material Handling and Production related supplies. The role involves inspecting and maintaining accurate records of all inbound and outbound materials processed through the box shop. Key duties include receiving approved purchase orders and bills of lading for inbound trucks, ensuring all inbound materials are authorized, and preparing receiving manifests for products entering the plant, comparing them with packing slips and purchase orders. The Inventory Person must ensure proper identification of all received materials, inspect them according to supervisor specifications, and prepare inspection reports for defective materials. The role also includes unloading and loading materials, documenting any hindering circumstances, and preparing manifests for outbound materials. Additionally, the position assists with daily and weekly inventory counts, generates purchase orders and requisitions as directed by management, places orders with vendors, and collaborates with the accounting department to resolve discrepancies. The individual will also assist the supervisor with other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Must have computer background
  • Able to use hand held scanners
  • If previously employed at Tyson, there’s a 365-day waiting period before you can reapply
  • Can apply if you’ve worked at Tyson no more than three times
  • If you had a failed drug screen, you must wait 6 months before reapplying
  • Willingness to undergo background checks for certain roles

Responsibilities

  • Receiving all Material Handling and Production related supplies
  • Inspect and keep accurate records of all inbound and outbound materials through the box shop
  • Receive approved purchase order and bill of lading for inbound trucks
  • Insure that all inbound materials are authorized by purchase orders
  • Prepare a receiving manifest for each product entering the plant and will compare it with the packing slip and purchase order
  • Make sure that all materials received are properly identified
  • Inspect inbound materials according to specifications provided by box shop supervisor
  • Prepare inspection report and report defective materials out of specification
  • Unloading and loading by informal dispatcher upon completion of task and document any circumstances hindering such
  • Prepare a manifest for outbound materials sent from box shop
  • Assist in daily and weekly counting of inventory
  • Generate purchase orders and requisitions when directed by management
  • Place orders with vendors
  • Work with accounting department to reconcile discrepancies
  • Help assist supervisor with other duties assigned
