The Inventory & Demand Planning Supervisor supports the forecasting, replenishment, and inventory management processes to ensure optimal product availability while minimizing inventory and obsolescence costs. This role analyzes sales and inventory trends, coordinates with suppliers and internal stakeholders, and prepares key inputs for monthly S&OP. The Supervisor also provides day-to-day leadership and coaching to 1 buyer and is responsible for placing/releasing purchase orders to suppliers (directly and through the team) in line with approved demand plans, inventory targets, and purchasing policies.

Requirements

  • College or university degree in supply chain, inventory planning or material replenishment planning
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in inventory planning, demand planning, replenishment, and/or buying
  • Strong computer skills
  • Strong math/analytical skills

Responsibilities

  • Manage S&OP (Distribution) for the Nutritional Business (monthly / weekly cyclical work)
  • Estimating demand for recurring distribution products and identifying issues contributing to performance and execution issues.
  • Conducting monthly Demand and supply reviews for the distribution organization focusing on inventory and supplier performance as well as customer centered KPI’s.
  • Segment customer and inventory on a periodic basis to gain insight into opportunities.
  • Collaborating with sales on inventory and customer service level requirements and action plans to reach them.
  • Facilitating Global BU centered S&OP leadership meeting on a quarterly basis.
  • Facilitating Monthly BU S&OP leadership meeting.
  • Manage Inventory for Nutritional BU (Distribution) (monthly, weekly, daily or periodic work)
  • Determining correct inventory levels to optimize service and carrying cost.
  • Creating, releasing, and managing purchase orders to suppliers based on demand signals, inventory policy, lead times, and confirmed supply, expediting or deferring orders as required to meet service targets.
  • Reviewing and approving (as applicable) purchase orders placed by buyers, ensuring PO accuracy, alignment with forecasts and inventory targets, and compliance with vendor terms, pricing, and internal controls.
  • Conducting monthly Nutritional (total BU) distressed inventory meeting to work with Manager of Distribution on returns and claims.
  • Collaborating with Manager of Logistics to assure physical counts on schedule decided by finance for NUT stocking facilities.
  • Collaborating with Manager of Logistics to assure the completion of monthly inventory reconciliations by Billing and Inventory Analyst.
  • Manage Flow of Invoices for Nutritional (Distribution) (daily, weekly, end of month work)
  • Managing/assuring Billing and Inventory Analyst is processing orders for the distribution business in a timely manner.
  • Assuring coverage for billing at month-end- act as first level support for invoicing issues.
  • In collaboration with Logistics, assuring proper management of invoicing by the Billing and Inventory Analyst.
  • In collaboration with Logistics, assuring proper completion of physical counts and monthly reconciliations by Billing and Inventory Analyst.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision, coaching, and workload prioritization for 1 buyer to ensure timely and accurate purchasing execution.
  • Set clear objectives and performance expectations for direct reports and monitor progress using agreed KPIs (e.g., PO timeliness, supplier service, inventory targets).
  • Support performance management activities for direct reports, including regular check-ins, coaching, and participation in formal reviews.
  • Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, and training of buyers in collaboration with HR and Supply Chain leadership.
  • Ensure structured onboarding and role training for new hires.
  • Foster engagement and accountability through clear communication, appropriate delegation, constructive feedback, and support for professional development.
  • Escalate employee relations or disciplinary matters to HR and the Manager as needed.
