About The Position

This position manages the overall cost accounting and inventory function for the East Granby and Seymour facilities, including conducting physical inventories and performing detailed financial analysis in support of inventory management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS) from an accredited four-year college or university; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel, including functions such as VLOOKUP.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical business situations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and effectively organize workload.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex subject matter clearly to all levels of the organization.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyze inventory adjustments and write-offs to ensure accuracy, proper authorization, and compliance with company policies.
  • Develop and prepare raw material standard costs in collaboration with the Engineering and Procurement teams.
  • Load and maintain the integrity of standard costs within the ERP system.
  • Develop methods to value inventory and maintain the integrity of all inventory records.
  • Review and record daily inventory transactions in the General Ledger.
  • Reconcile the General Ledger to the Stock Status Report on a monthly basis.
  • Review and explain variances and implement corrective actions where applicable.
  • Conduct physical inventories, reconcile counts to the General Ledger and detailed inventory records, and accurately record all fluctuations.
  • Communicate inventory fluctuations to the appropriate levels within the organization.
  • Prepare and/or oversee daily scrap reporting.
  • Reconcile scrap reclaim activity with outside scrap vendors.
  • Support reserves for Excess and Obsolete inventory in accordance with corporate policies.
  • Assist in maintaining the integrity of the labor and overhead reporting model to ensure proper matching of expenses with direct material inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with Standard Practice Instructions and Sarbanes-Oxley internal controls across all areas of responsibility.
  • Support maintenance of the FIFO/LIFO reporting model for proper monthly inventory valuation, including annual LIFOPro submissions for Tax Package reporting to Marmon.
  • Coordinate, record, and maintain records for the cycle count program.
  • Prepare analyses to assist senior management in decisions affecting product pricing and profitability.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying and implementing process efficiencies.
  • Partner with manufacturing teams to provide reporting and analysis that support operational decision-making on the shop floor.
  • Work with Spec Engineering to support costing for newly created and updated parts.
  • Lead coordination with external auditors to efficiently resolve costing questions and issues.
  • Support month-end close activities and related reporting.
  • Assist the VP of Finance, Controller, and Assistant Controller in preparing management reports and deliverables for the corporate office.
