About The Position

SAIC is currently hiring an Inventory Control candidate to work with our team in Indianapolis, IN. This role involves implementing shipping programs, coordinating physical distribution, order fulfillment, inventory management and control, and contract management activities. The position performs a combination of manual and clerical shipping tasks and may cross-train on parts room and receiving duties, working out of a central warehouse. The Inventory Control candidate will use a computer system for tracking, logging, verifying, and reporting, and will follow shipping practices and procedures, transportation routing, schedules, and requirements. Responsibilities include preparing materials for shipment, potentially receiving incoming materials, and unpacking or unwrapping items. The role controls the efficient flow of goods, services, and information from origin to customer placement to meet customer requirements. Additionally, the candidate will develop and administer production plans and schedules related to material and product flow to ensure customer service and time objectives are met within financial constraints, and build relationships with strategic customers through logistics initiatives.

Requirements

High school degree with three (3) years of experience.
Strong organization, time management, attention to detail, basic math, communication (written/verbal).
Stamina to stand, lift (e.g., 40-50 lbs), bend, and move heavy items.
Ability to work in fast-paced settings, follow directions, and work independently or in a team.

Nice To Haves

Forklift/pallet jack operation (certification often a plus).
Familiarity with warehouse management systems, RF scanners, UPS/FedEx/Government software experience.
MS Office experience.

Responsibilities

Controls the efficient flow of goods, services, and information between points of origin through customer placement to meet customer requirements.
Develops and administers production plan and schedules as they relate to material and product flow inbound and outbound to ensure customer service and time objectives are achieved within existing financial constraints in order to meet marketing and financial objectives.
Builds relationships with strategic customers through logistics initiatives.
