About The Position

SAIC is currently hiring an Inventory Control candidate to work with our team in Indianapolis, IN. This role implements shipping programs, coordinates physical distribution, order fulfillment, inventory management and control, and contract management activities. The candidate will perform a combination of manual and clerical shipping tasks, and may cross-train on parts room and receiving duties, working out of a central warehouse. A computer system will be used for tracking, logging, verifying, and reporting. The position requires adherence to shipping practices and procedures, and transportation routing, schedules, and requirements. Responsibilities include preparing materials for shipment, and potentially receiving incoming materials or unpacking items such as finished products, raw stock, assemblies, parts, building materials, office supplies, and equipment. The role controls the efficient flow of goods, services, and information between points of origin through customer placement to meet customer requirements. It also involves developing and administering production plans and schedules as they relate to material and product flow inbound and outbound to ensure customer service and time objectives are achieved within existing financial constraints to meet marketing and financial objectives. Additionally, the role builds relationships with strategic customers through logistics initiatives.

Requirements

  • High school degree with five (5) years of experience

  • Communication (written/verbal)
  • Stamina to stand, lift (e.g., 40-50 lbs), bend, and move heavy items
  • Ability to work in fast-paced settings
  • Ability to follow directions

  • Forklift/pallet jack operation (certification often a plus)
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems
  • RF scanners
  • UPS/FedEx/Government software experience
  • MS Office experience
