About The Position

The Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for the daily execution and supervision of inventory control activities within the BendPak Theodore, Alabama distribution facility. This role directs cycle counting, inventory research, location accuracy, replenishment, slotting, receiving verification, put-away accuracy, and outbound order audits. The supervisor leads inventory control personnel, ensures transactions are completed accurately in TWL and related warehouse systems, investigates discrepancies, documents root causes, and implements corrective actions. This position works closely with Operations, Purchasing, Customer Service, Accounting, and IT to maintain accurate inventory records, support efficient warehouse flow, and reinforce accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 3 years of inventory control experience in a distribution or warehouse environment
  • At least 1 year of supervisory, lead, or inventory coordination experience
  • Proficiency with warehouse management systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including filters, formulas, pivot tables, lookups, and basic data analysis
  • Ability to operate a forklift is required
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Punctual and reliable, with consistent attendance
  • Flexible and effective in a fast-paced warehouse environment

Nice To Haves

  • Inventory control, warehousing, or APICS certification preferred

  • Familiarity with EDI processes and integration

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coach, and develop inventory control specialists, clerks, and assigned material handlers
  • Provide daily direction, document coaching as needed, support performance evaluations, and manage scheduling and workload distribution
  • Train team members on inventory control procedures, system transactions, RF scanner use, and standard work
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the inventory team
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Operations, Purchasing, Customer Service, and Accounting
  • Maintain and enforce inventory control procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions
  • Monitor inventory accuracy, cycle count completion, adjustment activity, location accuracy, receiving accuracy, and other assigned KPIs
  • Design and oversee cycle counting programs to ensure perpetual inventory accuracy
  • Coordinate quarterly and annual physical inventory counts, including preparation, count assignments, reconciliation, and reporting
  • Analyze inventory data to identify trends, discrepancies, and optimization opportunities
  • Support inventory stratification and apply appropriate count frequencies and controls by item category
  • Identify replenishment and stocking concerns and communicate recommended min/max, reorder point, and safety stock changes to Supply Chain and Purchasing
  • Identify obsolete, damaged, and slow-moving inventory and coordinate approved disposition actions
  • Ensure compliance with FIFO/FEFO inventory rotation principles
  • Verify receiving and put-away accuracy and work with Operations to resolve inbound discrepancies
  • Implement quality control procedures for incoming inventory verification
  • Manage put-away strategies to optimize warehouse space utilization and picking efficiency
  • Ensure proper documentation and system entry of all received goods
  • Coordinate with suppliers and the purchasing team to resolve receiving discrepancies
  • Monitor receiving accuracy, put-away completion, and related inventory control exceptions
  • Maintain outbound inventory verification and audit procedures
  • Validate the accuracy of picked orders based on quantity, product SKU, shipping method, and destination
  • Establish verification checkpoints to ensure 99.8%+ shipping accuracy
  • Serve as the site resource for TWL and warehouse management system inventory functions
  • Assist with testing and implementing system enhancements and updates to improve inventory control processes
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of item master data, location management, and system parameters
  • Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly inventory reports and tracking tools
  • Train team members on proper use of RF scanners, WMS functions, TWL functions, and inventory tools
  • Coordinate with the IT department for system issues and improvement projects
  • Prepare weekly inventory variance reports, root-cause findings, and corrective-action updates for local management review
  • Prepare monthly inventory variance summaries for group management review
  • Provide accurate inventory data and exception reporting to support inventory planning and cost-control decisions
  • Identify inventory movement and storage trends and recommend operational improvements
  • Investigate and document inventory adjustments, providing root cause analysis
  • Implement corrective actions for variances
  • Support month-end inventory reconciliation by providing accurate counts, adjustments, and variance documentation
  • Provide Finance and Accounting with requested documentation for inventory adjustments, damaged goods, and obsolete inventory
  • Recommend practical improvements to inventory control methods and warehouse processes
  • Lead process improvement initiatives
  • Develop and maintain standard work instructions for all inventory processes
  • Compare site performance against established company targets and prior results
  • Implement lean principles to eliminate waste in inventory processes
  • Stay current with inventory management trends and technologies
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and safety regulations
  • Maintain proper documentation for regulatory and audit requirements
  • Ensure team members follow proper safety protocols, including PPE usage
  • Conduct regular safety audits of inventory storage areas, including racking and shelving
  • Ensure compliance with hazardous material storage and handling requirements where applicable
  • Participate in Operations, Purchasing, and inventory planning meetings as assigned
  • Coordinate with customer service and sales teams on inventory availability and allocation
  • Maintain controls and records for consignment inventory when applicable
  • Support vendor-managed inventory activities when applicable
  • Provide inventory and operational support to the Director of Distribution Center Operations - Alabama as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
