About The Position

The Inventory Control Supervisor plays a critical hands on role in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and integrity of inventory management processes within the organization. This position is responsible for overseeing inventory control activities, including monitoring stock levels, coordinating audits, and implementing best practices to minimize discrepancies and losses. The supervisor will lead a team to maintain optimal inventory accuracy, support operational needs, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. By analyzing inventory data and collaborating with cross-functional teams, the Inventory Control Supervisor helps drive informed decision-making and supports overall supply chain effectiveness. Ultimately, this role ensures that inventory is managed in a way that supports business objectives, reduces costs, and enhances customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in inventory control or warehouse management, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
  • Proficiency with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control principles, stock reconciliation, and audit processes.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • The Inventory Control Supervisor takes a hands on approach while utilizing strong analytical skills daily to interpret inventory data and identify discrepancies or trends that impact stock accuracy.
  • Leadership and communication skills are essential for managing and motivating the warehouse and stockroom teams, ensuring clear understanding of procedures and expectations.
  • Proficiency with inventory management software and Excel enables efficient tracking, reporting, and forecasting of inventory levels.
  • Problem-solving skills are applied to investigate variances and implement corrective actions that improve operational efficiency.
  • Knowledge of supply chain processes and collaboration skills facilitate effective coordination with other departments to maintain seamless inventory flow.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related discipline.
  • Experience with ERP systems, Epicor preferred
  • Certification in inventory management or supply chain (e.g., APICS CPIM or CSCP).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead process improvement initiatives using Lean or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing, retail, or distribution environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate daily inventory control operations to ensure accurate stock management and timely reporting.
  • Lead and train inventory control staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular physical inventory counts and cycle counts, reconciling discrepancies and investigating variances.
  • Develop and implement inventory control policies and procedures to optimize accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with procurement, warehouse, and sales teams to forecast inventory needs and resolve supply chain issues.
  • Analyze inventory data and generate reports to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for process enhancements.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements related to inventory management.
  • Manage inventory control systems and recommend technology upgrades or process changes as needed.
