About The Position

The Inventory Control Specialist supports accurate and efficient inventory management across fire protection field operations and warehouse locations. This role focuses on day-to-day execution of inventory control activities including receiving, tracking, cycle counts, reconciliation, and compliance with established inventory procedures. The Inventory Control Specialist works closely with field technicians, warehouse staff, purchasing, and finance teams to ensure inventory accuracy, material availability, and audit readiness. This position is well-suited for a hands-on inventory professional with 3–5 years of experience in inventory control within construction, fire protection, or field service environments.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or material management
  • Experience supporting inventory operations in fire protection, construction, or field service industries preferred
  • Working knowledge of cycle counting, inventory reconciliation, and stock control practices
  • Proficiency with Excel and ERP or inventory management systems
  • Ability to analyze inventory data and identify discrepancies and root causes
  • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with field and warehouse teams
  • Ability to travel locally to warehouse and job locations as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with fire protection systems, materials, or NFPA-regulated equipment
  • Exposure to NetSuite or similar ERP inventory modules
  • Knowledge of truck stock management practices
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and scheduled cycle counts for warehouse and truck stock inventory to maintain accurate system records
  • Investigate and reconcile inventory discrepancies, shortages, and overages
  • Ensure accurate receiving, labeling, and stocking of fire protection materials and equipment
  • Support inventory transactions related to purchasing, transfers, returns, and adjustments
  • Maintain compliance with company inventory SOPs and control procedures
  • Coordinate with field technicians and supervisors to support proper use and tracking of truck stock
  • Assist with physical inventories and audit preparation activities
  • Monitor inventory usage trends and flag potential issues such as shrinkage, obsolete material, or stockouts
  • Prepare and distribute inventory reports to Operations and Finance as requested
  • Provide training and support to field and warehouse personnel on inventory best practices
