About The Position

An Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for managing and tracking a company’s products and materials. This role focuses on maintaining accurate records of stock, monitoring inventory levels, and ensuring the proper flow of goods from receiving to shipping. The specialist works to balance supply and demand, preventing issues like stock shortages or excess inventory. To maintain optimal stock levels, this position requires collaboration with various departments, including procurement, logistics, and sales. The Inventory Control Specialist ensures that inventory data is accurate and accessible to other business units. This coordination is key to the timely replenishment of goods and the overall efficiency of the supply chain. Through diligent tracking and management, the Inventory Control Specialist plays a vital part in the operational success of the business. Their work directly supports order fulfillment, helps to minimize waste, and ensures that products are available to meet customer demand.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or supply chain setting
  • Experience with data entry, record keeping, and using handheld devices like barcode scanners
  • High school diploma or an equivalent qualification.

  • An associate or bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, or supply chain management.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular physical inventory counts and audits to reconcile discrepancies between physical stock and inventory records.
  • Analyze inventory data and generate reports to monitor stock levels, identify trends, and forecast future inventory needs.
  • Implement and maintain a system for organizing and locating items within the warehouse to optimize storage and retrieval.
  • Process and document returns, damages, and obsolete stock to maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory system.
  • Train staff on inventory control procedures.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies to determine the root cause and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and implement loss prevention strategies to reduce shrinkage, theft, and breakage of inventory.
