About The Position

The Inventory Control Operator manages the flow of materials, supplies, and equipment essential to daily production operations. This role ensures accurate inventory tracking, efficient procurement, and timely distribution to prevent shortages or overstocking. The position requires strong attention to detail, organization, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Proficiency with inventory software systems and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with barcoding systems and ERP software preferred
  • 1+ years of experience in inventory control, warehousing, or purchasing in a manufacturing or industrial setting
  • Knowledge of inventory forecasting, material handling, and supply chain principles is a plus
  • Demonstrated reliable work history and consistent attendance in prior employment
  • Organizational skills: ability to manage multiple priorities, track materials, and maintain documentation with accuracy
  • Communication skills: clear verbal and written communication across teams and with external vendors
  • Analytical thinking: ability to identify inventory trends and suggest process improvements
  • Problem solving: responds effectively to inventory discrepancies and supply chain issues
  • Attention to detail: accuracy in tracking, labeling, and auditing inventory records
  • Must be able to properly and regularly utilize the following PPE for periods of up to 12 hours: safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, nitrile gloves, ear protection, and cleanroom suit
  • Must be able to repeatedly lift, push, and pull materials or equipment for periods of up to 12 hours
  • Must be able to repeatedly stoop, twist, and bend for periods of up to 12 hours
  • Must be able to repeatedly reach overhead for periods of up to 12 hours
  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods
  • Must be able to use hands and fingers to operate tools, equipment, and computer systems

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with barcoding systems and ERP software preferred
  • Knowledge of inventory forecasting, material handling, and supply chain principles is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain optimal stock levels to support continuous production
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments for accuracy and quality
  • Organize, label, and store inventory materials according to safety and efficiency standards
  • Conduct regular cycle counts and reconcile inventory discrepancies
  • Maintain accurate manual and electronic inventory records using inventory management software
  • Create, process, and track purchase orders in accordance with company procurement procedures
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials
  • Build and maintain positive vendor relationships
  • Ensure compliance with internal purchasing policies and procedures
  • Forecast inventory demand based on production needs
  • Advise teams on efficient and cost-effective purchasing and inventory practices
  • Use software and digital tools (e.g., ERP, Excel, barcode systems) to update inventory records
  • Ensure accurate sign-out and return procedures for tools and materials across shifts
  • Communicate proactively with Production and Maintenance teams regarding stock needs and material flow
  • Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain; Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container)
  • Maintain regular and reliable on-site attendance
  • Perform other duties as assigned
