About The Position

The Inventory Control Operations Manager manages all operations related to inventory validation for the Distribution Center and delegates tasks to a team of Inventory Control Managers and Assistant Managers. Through this important work, the Inventory Control Manager impacts customer satisfaction, store profitability and Academy’s Mission. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance or related field preferred
  • 7+ years’ experience in inventory, distribution and operational procedures
  • 5+ years’ supervisory experience
  • Basic knowledge of accounting fundamentals; stock ledger, balance sheet, GL impact and credit/debit
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate change , directional shifts and make strategic decisions without having all of the information available
  • Organizational and prioritization skills that allow the coordination and execution of multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously
  • Effective communication skills; active listening, written and verbal
  • Proficient in Windows, MS Office, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and AS/400
  • Proficient in MS Access and data analysis
  • In-depth knowledge of supply chain distribution related to distribution centers
  • Strong Interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration across all shifts, DCs and divisions
  • Analytical skills and strong attention to detail
  • Problem solver; able to gather data, compile information and prepare reports to senior leadership
  • Acceptable level of hearing and vision to perform job duties
  • Constantly stand, walk, sit, climb, and perform repetitive motions (hand/wrist/fingers)
  • Frequently required to kneel, crouch, crawl, use fingers, grasp, push and pull
  • Constantly push and pull 5 to 40 pounds, and lift 2 to 25 pounds
  • Adhere to company work hours, policies, procedures and rules governing professional staff behavior

Responsibilities

  • Ensures all compliance expectations are met; facility counts, record retention, audits, key and non-key control processes
  • Ensures compliance in maintaining internal control documentation, effectively performs internal controls, remediate internal control exceptions and responds to internal/external audit requests
  • Responsible for adhering to all accounting/auditing requirements
  • Oversees all special projects related to inventory for the Distribution Center
  • Manages a diverse workforce of 100+ associates, including training, scheduling, evaluating, corrective action and terminating
  • Analyzes inventory accuracy results and implements processes and procedures to address inaccurate inventory
  • Present shrink analysis summary for period close for Accounting
  • Analyzes operations, develops and implements processes/procedures to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness
  • Coach and mentor distribution center team members
  • Communicate with corporate, stores and distribution center departments to troubleshoot and answer questions effectively and efficiently
  • Ensure that work is performed according to standards, policies, procedures and safe practices
  • Facilitate meetings as required
  • Duties may change and team members may be required to perform other duties as assigned
