About The Position

The Inventory Control Manager will lead and manage day-to-day inventory control activities, including cycle counting, inventory accuracy, reconciliation, and investigation and resolution of discrepancies. This role involves analyzing inventory data and warehouse activity to identify trends, root causes, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement. The manager will develop and implement inventory optimization and slotting strategies to maximize warehouse space, improve product flow, and support more efficient operations. They will also evaluate inventory across the facility to improve storage, organization, movement, and overall warehouse performance. Establishing, improving, and maintaining inventory control processes, procedures, and SOPs is crucial. The role includes leading and developing a team of approximately 4-6 employees, working closely with Operations leadership, and preparing/analyzing inventory reports and KPIs. Maintaining inventory accuracy levels in accordance with customer requirements and contractual KPIs, including highly demanding accuracy targets, is a key responsibility. The manager will act as a key point of contact for customers regarding inventory performance and discrepancies, participate in customer calls, and investigate inventory discrepancies to develop sustainable corrective actions. Identifying bottlenecks and implementing practical, data-driven solutions, partnering with cross-functional teams on warehouse layout and process optimization, and utilizing inventory management systems are also part of the role. Support for annual physical inventories, four-wall audits, and ensuring compliance with company policies and safety requirements are expected. Fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement, and operational excellence is essential. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience managing or supervising an inventory team or warehouse employees.
• Strong understanding of warehouse inventory management beyond physical cycle counting, including inventory analysis, discrepancy investigation, root-cause analysis and process improvement.
• Proven ability to analyze inventory and warehouse data and translate findings into practical operational improvements.
• Strong understanding of warehouse processes and how inventory management impacts inbound, outbound and overall facility operations.
• Experience working directly with customers or internal stakeholders on inventory performance, discrepancies and service requirements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and develop sustainable solutions.
• Demonstrated leadership ability with experience coaching, directing and developing a team.
• Proficiency with inventory management systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with warehouse teams, operations leadership and customers.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands and make sound operational decisions.

Nice To Haves

• Experience developing or implementing slotting strategies, warehouse space optimization, inventory organization or material flow improvements is strongly preferred.
• Experience with Blue Yonder, Manhattan or RedPrairie is an asset.
• Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, ISO 9001 or other continuous improvement methodologies is an asset.
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration or a related field is preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and analyze inventory reports and KPIs, including inventory accuracy, discrepancies, root causes and corrective actions.
• Maintain inventory accuracy levels in accordance with customer requirements and contractual KPIs, including highly demanding accuracy targets.
• Act as a key point of contact for customers regarding inventory performance, discrepancies, investigations and corrective actions.
• Participate in customer calls and communicate inventory findings, recommendations and solutions clearly and professionally.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies and develop sustainable corrective actions rather than simply resolving individual issues.
• Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies within warehouse inventory processes and implement practical, data-driven solutions.
• Partner with Engineering and other cross-functional teams on warehouse layout, process and inventory optimization initiatives.
• Utilize inventory management systems and reporting tools to support analysis and decision-making.
• Support annual physical inventories, four-wall audits and other inventory-related customer requirements.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety requirements and applicable inventory-handling procedures.
• Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, continuous improvement and operational excellence.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
