About The Position

Greenstone Meats is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Inventory Control Coordinator to manage inventory accuracy, product integrity, and inventory transactions for both raw materials and finished goods. This role is critical in supporting a fast-paced food manufacturing and distribution environment where products have short shelf lives and require strict inventory controls, lot traceability, and stock rotation practices. The ideal candidate will possess strong investigative skills, experience working with perishable products, and the ability to identify and resolve inventory discrepancies while partnering closely with Warehouse, Production, Procurement, Transportation, Customer Service, and Quality teams.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of inventory control experience in food manufacturing, cold storage, warehousing, or distribution.
  • Experience managing inventory for both raw materials and finished goods.
  • Experience working with time-sensitive, short shelf-life products.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and inventory reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Valid forklift certification and minimum 2-3 years of hands-on forklift operating experience in a refrigerated warehouse environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) or similar ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of inventory management best practices, cycle counting, and root cause analysis.
  • Experience in meat processing, food manufacturing, or temperature-controlled supply chains.
  • Understanding of HACCP, food safety, and product traceability requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate inventory records for raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods.
  • Monitor inventory levels and support replenishment activities to prevent shortages or excess inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with FIFO/FEFO (First In, First Out / First Expired, First Out) inventory practices.
  • Manage lot tracking, product dating, and inventory rotation to minimize spoilage and obsolescence.
  • Generating daily reports for On-hand inventory and creating action plans for stakeholders.
  • Perform daily cycle counts and physical inventory audits.
  • Investigate inventory variances and transaction errors, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Reconcile inventory discrepancies between physical inventory and ERP system records.
  • Support month-end and year-end inventory processes.
  • Verify inventory movements related to receiving, production, transfers, adjustments, and shipping.
  • Coordinate with warehouse and production teams to ensure inventory transactions are completed accurately and timely.
  • Monitor inventory aging and identify at-risk inventory requiring action.
  • Analyze inventory trends and report inventory accuracy metrics.
  • Investigate customer returns, damaged product, shorts, overages, and inventory losses.
  • Recommend process improvements to enhance inventory control, reduce waste, and improve service levels.
  • Support food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance initiatives
  • Operate material handling equipment (MHE), including forklifts, electric pallet jacks and ride on MHE in a safe and compliant manner.
  • Maintain a valid forklift certification and follow all site-specific safe operating procedures.
  • Adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety company safety policies and procedures.
  • Follow safe lifting techniques and safe material handling practices.
  • Support a strong safety culture by identifying hazards, participating in safety toolbox talks, and contributing to continuous safety improvements.
