About The Position

As an Inventory Control Coordinator, you will play an important role in keeping hospital operations running smoothly by leading inventory and distribution activities during second- and third-shift operations. You’ll provide day-to-day guidance to distribution technicians, coordinate workflow, monitor medical equipment and supply inventory, and serve as a key supply chain resource for clinical teams during off-shift hours. Your attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to customer service will help ensure uninterrupted support for patient care. Accurate inventory and dependable supply availability are essential to healthcare operations. In this role, you’ll help ensure clinical teams have the products they need while identifying opportunities to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and support cost-containment efforts.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Strong inventory management, leadership, communication, decision-making, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate departmental activities during evening and overnight shifts.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree.
  • Three years of experience in supply chain, distribution, inventory management, or healthcare logistics.
  • Lead or trainer experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day operational oversight, guidance, and work prioritization for distribution technicians.
  • Coordinate departmental workflow and serve as the primary escalation point for operational and customer service concerns during assigned shifts.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through cycle counts, audits, shelf inspections, and inventory reconciliation.
  • Monitor inventory levels, identify shortages, and coordinate replenishment activities.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory par levels based on utilization, demand, and patient care needs.
  • Ensure proper stock rotation using FIFO (First-In, First-Out) and expiration-date management practices.
  • Investigate inventory discrepancies, stock variances, and system issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor and reduce obsolete, expired, and excess inventory.
  • Collaborate with nursing and other departmental customers to resolve supply issues and maintain service excellence.
  • Support product standardization, inventory optimization, and cost-management initiatives.
  • Assist with onboarding, training, and mentoring team members on inventory and distribution procedures.
  • Communicate shift activities, operational concerns, and inventory issues to leadership and incoming staff.
  • Identify opportunities to improve supply chain efficiency and reduce waste.
