About The Position

This role manages the day-to-day operations of the inventory management and purchasing of the OR. This role works closely with the Purchasing Dept to monitor expenditure on equipment and supplies for these labs. The Inventory Control Coordinator manages the implementation, utilization, and maintenance of the perpetual inventory system to ensure accurate capture of replenishment and patient charge transactions. They develop proficiency in all areas of inventory with Workday, EPIC and McKesson. This role ensures items have the appropriate barcodes, are cross-referenced in the Workday system, stock is rotated to ensure no out-of-date stock on hand, and reacts appropriately to all critical point messages in Workday. The position performs inventory management for the OR, evaluates appropriate Min/Max levels, reviews Min/Max for storeroom stock daily, and counts par level areas according to schedule. Returns are processed per approved policy. The role participates in the annual inventory count/audit and works with the Biomedical department to ensure all equipment is properly tagged, tested, and functioning. The Inventory Control Coordinator assists the Directors of Surgical Services, Nurse Manager, and the Purchasing Dept. with special projects, including product/vendor evaluation, investigation of comparative pricing, pursuit of consignment and discount opportunities, negotiations, and selections. They communicate effectively with all sales representatives, while maintaining professional relationships and controlling vendor activity in the Department. This role works with Clinical Resources on all OR Supply cost management projects and maintains effective communication with all parties involved in the operations of the OR. Performs other duties as assigned/required by manager.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • At least two years’ experience in inventory management/control, preferably in a critical care unit, OR preferred.
