The Inventory Control Clerk's purpose is to receive and check-in merchandise, ensure that merchandise received matches the invoice, and return damaged product for credit. This role is responsible for preparing the backroom for merchandise receipt, counting and inspecting merchandise against invoices, and maintaining a clean and organized receiving area. The position also involves checking code dating on case items, preparing lists of out-of-stocks for DSD vendors, and contacting DSD vendors regarding any issues with their items. Safety is a key aspect, requiring the removal of hazards from the backroom floor. The clerk must understand the operation and safety requirements of equipment such as the baler, case cutter, pallet jack, and forklift, and must be at least 18 years old to operate these. Miscellaneous tasks, substituting for absent workers, and performing additional duties to support customer service are also part of the role.
